La synth-pop band tedesca PROPAGANDA si forma a Düsseldorf nel 1982 e firma l’anno seguente per la ZTT Records pubblicando il singolo “Dr. Mabuse” nel 1984 e l’album di debutto A Secret Wish. A Secret Wish, scritto da Mertens e Dörper, ricevette notevoli consensi dalla critica, raggiungendo il numero 16 nella classifica degli album UK, l’’album fu seguito dal singolo “p:Machinery”, che divenne rapidamente un successo in Italia, Francia, Olanda, Germania e Svizzera. Il gruppo trascorse il resto dell’anno in tour, l’Outside World che toccò Europa e America. Un album di remix, Wishful Thinking venne successivamente pubblicato nel novembre 1985. Originariamente destinato al mercato dei club americani, l’album fu pubblicato anche in Europa. Il box set retrospettivo A SECRET SENSE OF RHYTHM, A SECRET SENSE OF SIN, compilato e curato dall’esperto della ZTT label Ian Peel, ripropone l’album rimasterizzato e una selezione di mix rari, brani inediti e materiale live; il libretto contiene note bio-discografiche scritte da Ian sulla storia della band e sull’impatto che l’album ha avuto nel corso degli anni. L’uscita è accompagnata da una versione limitata dell’album in VINILE.
