FOUR CLASSIC ALBUMS

L’etichetta Avid presenta un nuovo volume della sua collana Four Classic Albums dedicato a Gerry Mulligan. Questo doppio cd, completo di grafiche e note di copertina originali, include gli album “Presenting the Gerry Mulligan Sextet”, “A Profile of Gerry Mulligan”, “Mainstream of Jazz” e “Gerry Mulligan and the Sax Section – The Gerry Mulligan Songbook”. Questo doppio cd rappresenta la terza uscita della Avid incentrata su Gerry Mulligan e si concentra su registrazioni del biennio 1955-1956. In questi album Mulligan è affiancato dai trombettisti Jon Eardley e Don Ferrara, Robert Brookmeyer al trombone, William Crow o John Morrison al contrabbasso, Zoot Sims al sax tenore e Dave Bailey alla batteria. “Gerry Mulligan and the Sax Section – The Gerry Mulligan Songbook” è un raro album del 1957 in cui Mulligan è affiancato da Lee Konitz,Allen Eager, Zoot Sims, Al Cohn, Freddie Green, Henry Grimes e Dave Bailey.
