Il film, per il quale non è esagerato l’aggettivo ‘leggendario’, fu realizzato in stop-motion e prodotto da Tim Burton. Proiettato in USA nel 1993 e in italia nel 1994 diventò un fenomeno commerciale anche grazie all’edizione speciale in DVD distribuita nel 2003.La colonna sonora, composta da Danny Elfman, fu nominata ai Golden Globe del 1993 come ‘Miglior Colonna Sonora’.Edizione speciale 2025, stampata su Vinile Colorato ‘fosforescente’.
