Questo cd riunisce due album del trombonista J.J. Johnson: “Plays Mack the Knife” (1961) e “Trombone and Voices” (1960). Il primo album lo vede alla guida di un quartetto con André Previn al pianoforte, Red Mitchell al contrabbasso e Frank Capp alla batteria, ed è incentrato su brani di Kurt Weill. Nel secondo album invece Johnson è affiancato dall’orchestra di Frank De Vol.
